Summary:
From Bristoe Station, Prince William County, Virginia, during wartime, George W.
Peaco writes to Alexander H. H. Stuart about his sick family, sending fifty
dollars for them to be delivered by Stuart, and asking Stuart to write with
information about the condition of the Peaco family at home. George W. Peaco, a
carpenter and resident of the First District, Augusta County, served as a
private in the Staunton Artillery.

Dr Sir
I Drop you a few lines to let you know that we are all
getting along pretty well Down here - I hope Sir this may find you and family
well I Received A letter from my wife a few Days since
and was glad to hear that she was able to go about - I
have been very uneasy for her but I hope she will continue to get better She
writes that Brother James has Returned from the mountains safe I would like to
hear from [added: him] as
[added: it] seems like he has forgotten me entirely Mary I believe is staying with
him for the present - I am very Glad she is there and I hope will stay

until she gets entirely well I would like to come and see them all but I
cannot get off as the General will not let any off at this time it is hard to be
here with [added: A] sick family at Home but I will
bear with the best I can We shall be paid off for our services up to the first
of Septr and I have sent fifty Dollars to you which you will please send to my wife the first opportunity please find out how the the health of my
wife is and write to me as I can not hear from home as
often as I would like there is no news of Interest here all seems quiet we
Expect our Brigade will move in a few Days Down
