Your letter of the 21^st July addressed to Wm Hopkins [illeg.] was duly rec.^d as we have so many applications for assistance from our old acquaintances in the South, who are now prisoner, we do not as a firm fill orders Except when we are acquainted: - the writer handed your letter over to his wife, who has been doing somthing as She has ability for the Confederate prisoners who have no friends at the
