James H. Skinner

Before the war, James H. Skinner practiced law in Staunton in Augusta County, Virginia, and served in the Virginia state legislature. Skinner enlisted as the captain of Company A of the 52nd Virginia Infantry. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1862 and colonel in 1863. He suffered several injuries while in service, but survived the war and returned to his law practice, eventually dying in Staunton in 1898.
