Seth Dickey, a "gentleman" of Franklin County, lived with Elizabeth Dickey, probably his mother, and their two domestic servants, Susan Baker and Susan Cole, before the war. Dickey's father James Dickey, Jr., had died in 1855. Dickey enlisted as a private in Company D of the 126th Pennsylvania on August 2, 1862. During his nine-month service, Dickey fought in the battle of Fredericksburg. After the war, Dickey married Annie Smith, a descendant of the founder of Mercersburg. Dickey's wife died in 1879 and he married Mary Patterson in 1905. Dickey died in 1925. |
