Dear Brother & Sister
I seat myself this morning for the purpose of dropping you a few lines to inform you that I am very well hoping when this comes to hand it may find you well I have nothing interesting to write I am on my way to our Regiment I am at Staunton I Expect to leave hear today we will have to March 92 miles it is thought that our command is at Martinsburg Virginia there is a very sorry Crop of Corn in this part of the State there is no chance to Make Bread but Wheat is very fine you need not write Soon for I can't get it until we Station
I will close for this time as our [unclear: Electionn] has come off so nothing More
