My Dear

this Day i set myself Down to inform you that i am Well at Present and i hope When these few lines reach you they may find you in the same state of health it make me feel bad to think that i have wrote so many letters and Can't get a answer from you Why it is Why Can't tell but if there is something wrong Why i Want to know What it is and then i Will know What it is for the boys does get a letter from you and i Want to Why it is that i Can't for here i have got for hundred and ten dollers in my pocket and i Did not know Whether to send it to you or not for i had not heard from you for so long a time but if i Can get home in the next boat Why i Will Come and then i Will find [deleted: ] What is the matter that you Don't write the last time that i heard from you Why Jacop told me that you Were going to send your likeness in the next letter but that has been a long time ago for i have Wrote three or four four letter but i never got your likeness or a letter yet for my part i don't know What to think of it but this is my last letter that i Will write till i get one from you and if you have foresaken me Why i hope that you Will write and give me the reason for it and then i Will know What to do here after i must bring my letter to a Close and here is a ring that i had bought from the rebels for you and i Will send it to you for [unclear: rememers] of Dear husband David Demus but i hope that you Will excuse this bad writing for my mind is trouble so much that i Can hardly write anymore
