Dear

i take this present opportunity of Dropping you a few lines to inform you that I am Well at present and I hope When these few lines Reach you they May find you Well and all the inquiring friends

My Dear i Must say to you that i have Just Come back from the expedition through the state of South Carolina We Was [unclear: gon] on the [unclear: as] for Weeks and We travel about three hundred Miles through the state and i thought sure that they Would be a letter in Camp for Me but When the Mail Was give out Why it appeared that every body got got letters but Me i Did Not Know What had happen and I Went to the Base and some had got a letter from lisey but it Did Not say anything about you

so i thought i Would Drop a few line to you in the last letter you spoke about Mary had sent Me her photograph but you Can tell Mary that I have Never Receive it yet

I have got a bad headache i Must Close My letter By bidding you goodbye

Nothing More at present but still Remain
