My Dear sister
i take my pen in hand to inform you that we are all well at present and i hope that these few lines may find you in the same state of health David is getting Well george is Well at present but We are in the sandy south We are on morris island yet and we don't know how long we will stay i saw Willey Christey about a month ago he was well when i saw him last
[unclear: thay] are camps on folley island and [unclear: tha] don't come across the river and We can't go across to their camp and we can't get to see any of them im beginning to think that you have forgot to write to i did not answer the last letter i had on time to write when i got your letter and now i have got time to write now when you write again let me know how the neighbors is getting along i never get to hear how how they are getting along i would like to [unclear: now] [unclear: higbes] are getting along i won't expect to get home before my time is up if i live it is safer that it would take a long time to get home and this is why i say that i would not get home before my time is up i know that you all would be glad to see us all at home once more i would like to see you all once more when you write again let me know how the garden is this year and the potatoes is this year i know you miss me at home but i am far away from home i know that the farmer misses us mr.
