My Dear Sister

I receive your letter today We have been in a fight And William was Wounded very badly Joseph was Wounded but not very bad The rebels was too many for us and we had to fall back the rebels got William so I think for we haven't heard anything of him but Joseph he got away I didn't get Wounded this time samuel was [unclear: ant] in the fight The Weather is very Warm here The peach trees has been in blossom for three Weeks I haven't time to write much David say he is well And he would write himself but he has no paper nor ink We lost everything while We was on the march he say that he has two oranges as half as big as his head And he say that he would send them to you if he could do it We have been paid yet But I think that we will be paid before very long now the eight Pennsylvaina regiment is very badly cut up & John chambers was killed and John Henry Carl was killed nothing more at present still remain
