My Dear true love
a happy i feel to have the pleasure of setting myself Down to inform you that i am Well at present and hope When these few lines Reach you that they may find you in the same state of health
My Dear i just got your Dear letter and i thought it was impossible for the Mail to leave Without Writing a few lines to you and telling you Now all that i Could but i am sorry to say that i Can't tell you anything about the boys for i have Not heard from them for some time but the last time that i heard they was all well and doing well
but i hope a [unclear: gansts] the Next letter i Write Why i Can tell you all about the boys i have got one letter from John since i Came back and he said that he Was putting up Winter Quarter then and i Wrote back again but i have Not heard from him yet
but give My best Respects to Mary and tell her that i think she has forgot Me since i left [illeg.] have been looking in every Mail for her likeness or for a letter but i [unclear: Cant] a letter or her likeness but tell her that i Will Wait a While longer and if it Don't Come then Why i Will have to Come home again to get it and tell Elizabeth that she Needn't think that i have forgotten her likeness yet but i hope when the Next Mail Come in Why there May be the letter for Me With all your likeness in and tell Bobe Rite that Captain Crane Was Killed in the battle of [unclear: huny] hill so i have not got to see any of the offers yet about it but as soon as they Come back Why i Will go Down and see them about it and then i Will Write and let him Know all i Can about it
