Dear sister

i take my pen in hand to Let you know that i am Well At present and i hope these few Lines may find you enjoying the Same state of health all the rest of the boys is Well at present and Sends their love to you all and all So my love to yourself and to father and to Elizebeth and to all the rest of the friends i heard that the watson family Was killed by the rebels and they had took [unclear: Suan] [unclear: an] and bash Johnson and Sarah Stoner and i wish you Would let me know Whether it is so or not When you Write David Is Well and George is Well at present i hope you Will not be so long about Answering my letters you must not let The Rebels [unclear: Chear] you so that you Can't Write.

you Must think of me How [unclear: ar] [unclear: seting] under the rang of the rebels guns today Writing i am not afraid of all the rebels that Are in the South tell Miss Gator if she is still about that it Won't hurt to Write to me and When you Write i Want you to Let me know every thing that is going on here is Joseph likeness he send to you [unclear: fore] to let you see him once more i Can't tell When any of us Will be home but you need not look For me home till We are [unclear: pade] there Is some talk of us being paid but i don't now Whether We Will be paid or not this is not a very good likeness but When We get paid i am going to Have all of our pictures taken now i must bring my letter to a close This time nothing more at present but Still Remain
