To Adjutant General Thomas Washington D.C.

I do hereby certify that Chaplain John Ault of the 126th Regiment pennsylvania Volunteers who received leave of absence, for 20 days, from Major General hooker, dated january 17th, 1863, on account of ill health, is still, through convalescent, absolutely unable to return to his Regiment. by a slight exposure he has had a return of his throat and bronchial infections, which will entirely unfit him for travel for the next thirty days. Dated at Loudon, this 7th day of April, 1863.

Personally appeared before me one of the Justices of the Peace for said county. Dr. Joseph Hills McClintock, who, after being duly affirmed, doth say that the above report is just & true as stated. Given under my law & seal at Loudon this 5th day of May AD 1863. Joseph Crawford J.P.
