Franklin County: D. Mittlecoff to Edward McPherson, December 10, 1860

Summary:
D. Mittlecoff requests that Edward McPherson endorse George W. Hines for appointment as the Commissioner of the General Land Office.

Honorable Edward McPherson

Dec 10. 1860

Shippensburg

Dear Sir

My friend George W. Hines Esquire of Cumberland County will be an applicant for the appointment of Commisioner of the General Land Office. He is a practical Surveyor, familiar with the business appertaining to the public lands. And I think eminently qualified for the place. I understand that his pretensions will be endorsed by General Cameron, Mr. Stevens, Judge Watts, and others prominent in the Republican party.

I will esteem it a favor, if you can see your way clear to say a word in his behalf at the proper time.

Respectfully truly yours

D. Mittlecoff
