Franklin County: D. Mittlecoff to Edward McPherson, December 10, 1860

Summary:
D. Mittlecoff requests that Edward McPherson endorse George W. Hines for appointment as the Commissioner of the General Land Office.

Hon E. McPherson

Dec 10. 1860

Shippensburg

D Sir

My friend Geo W. Hines Esq. of Cumberland Co. will be an applicant for the appointment of Commisioner of the General Land Office. He is a practical Surveyor, familiar with the business appertaining to the public lands. And I think eminently qualified for the place. I understand that his pretensions will be endors'd by Gen Cameron, Mr Stevens, Judge Watts, and others prominent in the Republican party.

I will esteem it a favor, if you can see your way clear to say a word in his behalf at the proper time.

Respectfully truly yrs

D. Mittlecoff
