Dear Mother

i take my pen in hand to inform you that i am well at this present time and hope that those few lines will find you all in the same state of good helth. We ar in our old camp yet But i dont no how long we will stay heur for we are under marching orders now and cant tell wat day we will haf to march we had verrey nise weather heur for the last few days and when we do march we hav eight days [unclear: rashings ] to convoy on our backs We will hav about fortey five or fiftey pounds to convey on our backs You wanted my likeness and i had a caince to get it taken the other day and i got it taken and now i send it to you and ten dolers with it and i want you to send Me twenty five sents worth of post stamps if you cin get them you cin yous the ten dolers if you want to I must bring my letter to a close for the present time. nothing more at present time. But rite soon and let me no whether you got the likeness and money or not.
